You have three options for your client:
Fictional client (Level 3 - 4). The information is supplied in the form below. You will choose a photograph or provide one.
Yourself or a friend in the class (Level 5 - 6). You can act as your own client or you can choose someone in the class if they agree. The client will supply the photograph. The picture must feature the client in an interesting place or situation.
Real client (Level 7 - 8). This should be someone outside the school such as an older family member. You will have to collect information about the client yourself and provide a real photograph. The photograph must be special to the client (you will provide description and background).
You will make a photo frame to show a photo from your client.
The picture will be 10cm x 15cm
The frame will border the picture
2D cardboard frame with minimal decoration
3D cardboard frame with decoration or features
"Above and beyond" 3D frame.
Project requirements:
The photo must be appropriate.
The photo must be in colour.
The photo height-to-width ratio must be 3:2 or 2:3. Click here to test.
The frame must display the entire photograph.
The frame's aesthetics must relate to the photograph.
The frame must be made from assembled parts (not just 1 piece cut out).
The frame must be built entirely at school in the product makerspace.
The frame must be made with only tools and materials supplied by the school unless you ask permission.
Project options:
Your picture and frame may be either portrait or landscape oriented.
Your frame may be made from cardboard or mat board (or wood, see below)
Level 6+ options
You may choose to print and frame a larger photo e.g. 13cm x 18cm. Photo must be printed by you!
You may, if time permits, construct a back for your frame.
You may, if time permits, construct a 3- or 4-sided frame.
You may, if time permits, design and attach 3D-printed shapes.
You may, if time permits, create hand-made painted decorations and attach to your frame.
Level 7 - 8 options
You may choose to complete several of the previous options.
You may choose to make your frame from wood instead of cardboard. This requires the use of wood glue or screws/nails.
Technical skills options
